Joan Peters has been working with images and colors her entire life, bulding a business of Interior Design and Fine Art simultaneously. She appeared monthly in a “ design and style “ segment on KUSI Good Morning San Diego. Now pursuing only fine art, her work explores the layered relationship between past, present and future, revealing how reflection and optimism naturally coexist.

Joan’s work balances bold combinations of color with refined compositional restraint, creating paintings that are both powerful and intimate. Her paintings have drawn collectors and served as focal points in rooms throughout the United States.

Living and working in coastal southern California, Peters draws inspiration from layers of memory and the imagination of what lies ahead. Joan continues to develop a body of work that bridges modern expressionism and timeless elegance.

Artist Statement

Exploring the intersection of past, present and future, my work expresses the way time does not exist in isolation but instead layers itself into a cohesive moment.

Oil paints have been my favorite mode of expression but I’ve become inspired by the mixture of texture, acrylic paints and oils working together to capture exceptional emotion. My paintings are studies of presence, resilience and quiet power. My intention is to create works that command a space while inspiring prolonged contemplation.

Each piece stands as both a statement and a meditation - designed for one who is drawn to an expressive statement with a timeless presence.

“They say the sea is cold…but it holds the hottest blood there is…”

“Painting is magic. One moment I am staring at a blank field of white and I feel excitement.  I play with my brushes and paints. If I like what I see I feel as if I am part of a magical experience."
